Summer Ukishima was amazing for wide-angle shots, and macro was still as much fun as ever!
Good evening everyone! It's Mei\\\\٩( 'ω' )و //// Sorry for the late post, but a lot happened and I was bustling around since what, 3 AM? Is that still considered night? Anyway, I ran out of steam in the evening and slept like a log…😅 I hadn't prepared my blog post, so I was in a huge hurry! Today, I'll introduce some cute creatures spotted in Ukishima last week♪
First up, a new nudibranch I've never seen before! It's a Momiagekinuhada nudibranch! Such a cute name, right?🤣 It was tiny and almost pure white underwater, getting tossed around, but once I put it on a rock, it moved a lot🤣 Looking closely, I saw orange spots, so I thought it was a Kinuhada type. It moved so fast, and the location was bad, so I ended up with a lot of bad photos… Later, when I saw the photos, I realized it was new, and regretted not trying harder to get better shots😭 So frustrating!!!! If I see it again, I'll make sure to get a clear shot of its sideburns!
This one is also a first in my memory. The Otome Midorigai. This one also moved too fast… This was the best I could do. It moves as much as a flatworm, so I couldn't get it in focus! It was a beautiful creature with green and white.
And then, by far the smallest Moss Blenny I've ever seen! It was so tiny that it was incredibly difficult to explain to people what I was trying to photograph, saying, "What are you even taking pictures of?" lol😂 If you get too close with a finger or pointer, it retreats, so you have to wait for it to come out again…lol The common Moss Blenny has three flaps above its eyes. This one is so small that I can't tell, but it seems to have more than three. When I had Patty send me the photos she took with her DSLR, it looked like there were 4 to 5. Based on my current research, it might be an Iwahanakoke Blenny~ Or a Toshimakoke Blenny. Next time I see some experts, I'll ask. Finally, not the sea, but land. For the Ukishima 3-dive request, I felt that EX was too dangerous! So I asked Udayan and chatted with the leisurely ladies doing 2 dives when
"Whoa, there's a praying mantis!" I said🤭 I wonder when it climbed up here. It was getting stared at by everyone. After catching it and saying "Wow~"
I returned it to the forest (just a tree). By the way, where do praying mantises usually live? I associate them with embankments, so I wonder if a tree was okay. But if it was on the ground, it might get stepped on! As it moved from my arm to the tree, Nausicaä's music played in my head♪ It was small and cute~ Grow big!!! Swimming in Ukishima in summer is refreshing, and the marine life is abundant and amazing♡ There's also a pool! I'd like to plan an overnight tour again! Well, I'm still a bit busy, so I'll report back when I'm done!
