The other day, I went on a mini homecoming trip.
My elderly father got injured and hospitalized, so I went to check on him.
He's recovering faster than I expected, which is a relief.
By the way, what surprised me on my first visit home in a while was how much Fukui Station, which I don't usually use, had changed.
There were dinosaurs everywhere around the station.
While I was home, I ate some soul food.
I chose neither Fukui's famous "Sauce Katsudon" nor "Echizen Oroshi Soba"... but this!
When I lived in Fukui, this was the go-to ramen shop: "Hachiban Ramen."
I used to go there often with friends after school when I was a student.
They've added a lot of new items to the menu, but that nostalgic taste hasn't changed.

On the way back, I took the Hokuriku Shinkansen for an easy ride to Tokyo.
It was a two-day trip filled with the comforting scents of Fukui, familiar scenery, and nostalgic flavors.
I wonder when I'll be able to go back again...
