It's been 12 years since I started diving. I finally made it to Kashiwajima, the place I've always dreamed of!
Good evening, everyone! It's Mei・:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+ I still can't get over the amazing marine life I saw in Kashiwajima!🤣 Today, I'll be introducing the ocean! Since I'm not sure if some photos are from day 1 or day 2, I'll mainly focus on the marine life photos taken by my team!
As soon as you enter the water, you see this view! The visibility is incredibly good! I heard that Kashiwajima also had cold and murky water like Izu this summer, so we were very lucky to have warm and clear water this time!
This is what it looks like under the boat~🥰 It's the best~😭 Soon after we started swimming,
I was shocked to encounter a ragged-finned scorpionfish🫨 It seems to be a very active individual, and we couldn't find it the next day, so this first dive was a miracle...
After that, I was taught about the scallop razorfish and slowly approached it, but it went back into its hole~ so difficult😭 Meanwhile, others were looking at
this adorable pygmy seahorse! It recently got a Japanese name, Kodama Tatsu, but it's not very cute, so "pygmy" is fine, right?🤭 The Hachijou Tatsu is a "Japa Pygmy" so they're separated, lol.
Of course! This is what it looks like when someone takes a proper picture of it! The surroundings are also beautiful with the coral blooming~🥹 Too cute...
There was a crab near the pygmy seahorse that I'd never seen before, so I took a picture. Wait, isn't it carrying eggs?? It's called an Usuiro Sango Gani (Pale Coral Crab). If you look closely, it seems to be carrying eggs~
When I went back to the rocky area, I saw a Miyake Teppou-ebi hiding in the coral rubble! It's small and has a cute pursed mouth♡ And then, the creature of my dreams!! Not everyone could get a shot, but someone managed to get a picture of it!
It's a Homura Goby~!!! Oh, man. That's difficult with a TG camera. Even with an SLR, it depends on the timing. I confirmed its habitat, so I'll try again next time! While Patty was intensely focused, I was managing everyone's air pressure and time, and then I noticed everyone scattered around, thinking it was time to ascend... when suddenly, a turtle from behind Sori! I shouted loudly and they noticed, but "turtle" didn't convey the message😰 While I was shouting, this turtle approached us very closely
No, it's too close!!! lol I have a video of us flailing around too, lol. My voice is so loud that I just added some random audio, so please overlook the quality. https://youtu.be/8uJgBGd2bT8?si=Ki6jyVgzE5I28o05 (Turtle video) It's funny every time I remember it. 😂 We dive together often, so I can call them by voice now, but they still don't understand my gestures, do they?🤣
We also saw the ribbon eel that everyone loves! Thinking about it, Udayan asked me to take a picture like this, so I asked Patty underwater. lol Even with a very rough explanation, she nailed it. As expected!🤩
This is Udayan's requested masterpiece! Isn't it perfect?! Sorry for the sudden requests always~🤣
We also saw a black one! It's such a luxury to see both in one dive! I really like this picture of Zukki with the shadow✌️ This one kept coming out nicely.
In the shallow areas, hard corals were abundant, and there were many rare damselfish! This one is an Alpha Damselfish. As a TG user, I tried to imprint it in my memory rather than taking a picture... these guys need more time.
The Matsuba Ginpo (Pinecone Blenny) was also incredibly cute~ It was shallow, so it was hard to take pictures🤣
The longfin bannerfish were everywhere, and we saw so many! The Aurora Goby is a bit difficult, but we'll try again!
Oh yeah, there are a lot of Ortmann's cleaner shrimps, and they're all in such photogenic spots~! It's not like the inorganic feel of Izu; it's bright and soft, which is nice! They're cute no matter where they are, though!
There were many elongated clingfish near the long-spined sea urchins, but they kept moving, so they were hard to photograph! Clingfish aren't very common in Izu, so it was a fresh sight.
The Yamabuki Goby, with its soccer ball-like eyes, has such beautiful body coloration✨ It was unexpectedly cooperative, so everyone might have been able to photograph or observe it~
This is a rare Odori Goby, I don't know if it's coming out well or not. It was going in and out, so I peeked from where I wouldn't disturb it, but the angle of its hole was steeper than other gobies, making it difficult to photograph~ Zukki, who took the photo, expressed the view that the symbiotic goby was excellent. No doubt about it!!🤣 It's teasing us with a peek. What a troublesome cutie...😅
The pipefish was so big~ Its round eyes and blurred mouth were too cute, so I had to post it. Everyone, look at the pipefish at eye level and check out its mouth!!
The magnificent shrimp goby appeared with its beautiful fins spread wide, and the Kotobuki pistol shrimp was diligently working. I found it, but it was small and far away, so I waited for the SLR team, and after teaching Zukki, I waited for Patty while observing, and then something moving behind the shrimp goby... When I squinted my eyes,
It's a garden eel! And on the right side, there's also a seahorse relative (is it a distant relative in Kashiwajima?). You can even see its eyes in this picture! Amazing. This garden eel was discovered because it was moving around a lot. Everyone, even if you're focused, be careful of moving objects! Now, let's move on to the "when did you see this?" series. Even though we're a team and buddies, we tend to get separated when taking photos, so we often exclaim, "What?! You saw that?!" Even though this blog is already long, I'll still introduce more. I've even carefully selected these. (I gave up on about 10 photos)
The Rusty Moray Eel! I didn't see it even once, but several people took pictures of it. Am I blind?
A peacock mantis shrimp! And it's quite far out, lol.
Emperor shrimp! Hiding in a sea cucumber! This was introduced by the handsome guide, but I forgot when. Was it before the ribbon eel?
I think this fish was found in many corals, but I don't think its name was written down. It's probably a Barred Blenny!
Wow~! Is there really a blue Stonefish like this?! The guide also said a blue one is rare~!
And so, we dove a lot! It got looooong, so I'll combine the delicious food and the masterpiece starry sky. lol
To capture the whole sky and keep it steady, I usually lie down on the ground to take pictures. The grass was thick, but I'm glad I got some beautiful shots✌️ By the way, all of these were taken with an iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone takes better pictures than a compact digital camera. I wonder if I could have taken even better pictures with an SLR~ I wonder if I can prepare one by next time😅 Well, there are still tons of marine life and photos I haven't introduced, but this is already too long and everyone will complain, so I'll stop here. I'm sure Miiman will write the rest tomorrow. Oh, I definitely want to post a picture of that shrimp. And I haven't posted that other one yet, so I'll use someone else's picture... I also want to edit and post that video~! Kashiwajima was so much fun, I want to go again next year!!! See you the day after tomorrow~
You're sure to be moved and healed by the crystal-clear waters, which are just as beautiful as any resort sea!
