FAQs

◆General Diving

  • All courses are open to healthy individuals aged 10 and over.
If you have a history of respiratory illnesses such as asthma, or circulatory illnesses related to the heart or blood, you may not be able to participate, so please be sure to check the medical history form.
  • There are several illnesses that can pose a danger while diving.
These include angina, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, high blood pressure, asthma, pneumothorax, and epilepsy. In any case, if you have a pre-existing medical condition, please consult with a specialist doctor before participating.
We can also introduce you to specialist doctors in your area who are knowledgeable about diving, so please consult with us.
  • If your menstrual cramps are not severe, you will be fine.
You are welcome to use medication to delay your period if you wish to participate in diving. Please participate in diving within a range that does not strain your physical condition on the day of the activity.
  • Yes, that's fine. However, there's always a possibility that they could come off or get lost, so we recommend bringing disposable contact lenses.
  • To prevent decompression sickness, a diving-related illness, please wait at least 18 hours after diving before flying. Please keep this in mind when making your plans.
  • Solo participants are very welcome! Many of our guests join alone, and our dedicated staff will provide full support, so you won't feel lonely. Plus, one of the charms of diving is the opportunity to meet new people and make friends with other guests on the same course.
  • Rain is not an issue at all for diving. We will proceed as scheduled even on rainy days.
In the event of rough seas due to strong winds, such as typhoons, we may be forced to change or cancel the course. No cancellation fees will be incurred if the course is canceled due to our judgment in bad weather.
However, please note that cancellation fees will be incurred if you cancel the course based on your own judgment.
  • Of course, you can dive in winter too. The period when the water temperature drops (to a minimum of about 20°C) is also when the ocean's visibility significantly increases.
From large creatures to macro life, Ishigaki Island in winter is also highly recommended. Even though it's winter, it's the tropical Ishigaki Island. You can dive comfortably with a wetsuit and a hooded vest.
For those who say, "I'm sensitive to the cold," diving in a dry suit is also a good option.
  • The type of boat varies depending on the points you've earned, but it's generally a Japanese-style boat. Toilets are generally not available on board, so please use the facilities at the port.
  • We are unable to look after children at our facility, but we can recommend childcare facilities in the city center. They are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so you can rest assured.

◆Introductory Scuba Diving

  • It is possible to dive together. In this case, for safety, licensed divers will participate in the experience diving course.
  • Our introductory diving program starts with snorkeling to help you get comfortable in the water before you actually dive. Please be assured that our instructors will provide thorough support as we operate on a strictly small-group basis. It's a new experience, so it's natural to feel a bit nervous at first, but you'll have a fun dive!
  • Children aged 10 and over can participate in discovery diving. Since we offer completely private tours with small groups, your family can enjoy an entire team all to yourselves. We also have rental equipment available in children's sizes.

◆License Course

  • A diving license certifies that you have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to dive safely. With an entry-level license, you can enjoy diving in almost any ocean worldwide.
  • This refers to organizations that establish the necessary rules for safe diving.
There are various training organizations, but the general course content is consistent.
At S2CLUB Ishigakijima, we issue PADI licenses, which are the most recognized worldwide and have the highest number of licenses issued.
  • It is not necessary to be able to swim like a professional swimmer, but those with an excessive fear of water may take longer to complete the course.
When diving, your breathing is assured, and you wear fins to propel yourself through the water. Even if you cannot swim or hold your breath in swimming, you can swim gracefully in diving, so please rest assured.
  • Yes, that's fine. If you have a license, you can book fun dives, and it is possible to join the same schedule as those taking license courses.
  • As long as you are healthy and over 10 years old, you can obtain a license at any age. There is no upper age limit, so there are many senior divers.
  • Although it varies depending on your pace, you will need about 3 to 7 days.
Some people who want to study at a slower pace spend about a month studying at home. The more days you can dedicate to home study, the more thoroughly you can learn at your own pace, so please make a reservation as soon as your schedule is set.
  • During your stay, the inability to obtain a license may be due to your poor health or poor ocean conditions caused by a typhoon. Please ensure you are in good physical condition before participating. Lack of sleep can hinder effective ear equalization.
Additionally, license courses have certain skill standards, and if these standards are not met, you will not be able to obtain a license. In such cases, additional training (at an extra cost) may be required.
However, since our shop offers small-group private lessons, most of our customers successfully acquire their licenses by practicing thoroughly.

◆Fun Diving

  • Teams usually consist of 2 to 4 people, with a maximum of 6. Team formations are determined based on your skills and objectives. We do our best to accommodate your preferences, so please don't hesitate to inform us in advance.
  • First, if you are concerned about seasickness, please be sure to bring motion sickness medication. If you experience severe seasickness, it is a good idea to take motion sickness medication the night before.
Also, if you let us know when making your reservation, we will do our best to guide you to a nearby point with a shorter boarding time. Breaks between the first and second dives are almost always on the boat. When the waves are high, we may take a break at the harbor. Please rest assured that lunch will be taken on land.
  • A descent line has been prepared for you. You can use the line to descend slowly at your own pace without rushing. Also, please be sure to consult your instructor before diving. They can give you advice and help you feel more at ease.
