When I dove into the ocean, it didn't feel like it had been a long time at all, more like "I'm home!"
Hello everyone! Mei here ('◇')ゞ
By now, I'm probably in Kyoto, chattering away with my students.
This year is tougher than last, and the academic lectures are proving to be a challenge, lol.
I'm not asking for everyone, but I hope 90% of them pass on their first try! ( ̄▽ ̄;)
Anyway, I returned to the ocean on Sunday~!!
It's been over two months, it felt so long... Once I was in the water, it felt just like old times,
but before I got in, I was thinking, "I've endured so much to get here!"
My comeback dive was at the sacred Osezaki!

Transporting the gear didn't go well at all.
50% fooling around, 40% trying to reduce leg strain, 10% serious.
The reasons for failure were the sled being too small and the rope too short, so next time I'll change the rope and try again.
Gave up and carried the gear to the ocean.

The feeling of being home when I put my face in the water and saw the gravel and rocks.

For the first dive, we went to see the Mijingobies.
For me personally, it's probably been about 3 years. We just kept missing each other somehow.

While everyone else was engrossed in the Mijingobies, I was engrossed in the caprellids♡
It seems like baby caprellids have been born and grown, because there are literally tons of them when you look at the ground and seaweed, no joke, lol.
Probably about 100 million in the bay... lol
Previously, a picture book about caprellids that Take-san gave me had a guide to distinguishing species, and my current candidates are:
・Togewarakaramodoki (Spiny Skeleton Shrimp look-alike)
・Togewarakara (Spiny Skeleton Shrimp)
・Kamatewarakara
・Oowarakara
I couldn't tell which one it was from the photos I took~

There was also a Hairy Shrimp nearby~!
Tass-san was already there and said there weren't any, so I looked but couldn't find them.
Then Mr. Aihara, the local guide, happened to be there and called me over. ♡

Elsewhere, a Sailfin Scorpionfish wandered through the sand.
It was actually my first encounter. I'd never been able to meet one, but finally!
This one had a tumor forming between its dorsal fins~
We also saw several young fish, more like juveniles than fry,
so perhaps there are many Sailfin Scorpionfish this year?
Their pattern is also different from other scorpionfish, so I'd like you to aim for them.
The inside of their pectoral fins and their pelvic fins are really beautiful, so I hope you'll get close and try to photograph them!

This time we celebrated June birthdays!!

And a celebration for 800 dives, a truly joyous festival!!

Sorry I forgot the flag 💦
We still have 200 dives, so let's take another picture! Lol
After the photo session, we all split up for some fun diving.

While I was showing everyone small sea slugs and having them photograph them, I got super close to a moray eel.
They're really cute. I was so close the focus was soft, and it really seemed annoyed.
This year, I really want to be surrounded by moray eels in Sakata, Chiba. I hear there are tons there.
We're doing a tour in September, so everyone, let's go.

A goby darted away in the shallow water, so I peeked in and, oh, eggs!
They looked like Striated Gobies, but you can't tell from the eggs~
I'd love to see their shiny eyes or them hatching.

The safety stop caisson was a forest of seaweed. Golden Damselfish were scurrying around there.
Oh. Everyone's jaws are dislocated!
(When they're mouthbrooding, their mouths swell up and it's easy to tell, which I call "dislocated jaw.")
I tried a bit harder to photograph them and it turned out surprisingly well.
It'll be easier to tell when their mouths open a little more~
If you want to distinguish them from regular ones, ask me, and I'll tell you.

The view climbing up from the rocks this time of year.
It's nothing short of amazing.
I'm glad I could get back in the water before it got warm and the seaweed died.
This ordinary, everyday scenery is the most happiness there is ♪

Birthday, 800th dive, and my comeback!
The morning roads were clear and fast, and on the way back there was a multi-car accident, but the long-missed Hakone Road felt nostalgic.
We got so excited in the car on the way back that someone even "collapsed" from too much fun lol.
I'm really worried that I might have forgotten some plans because I talked so much about the tour, but please tell me if I did!
I went to the hospital for a check-up on Monday and had an X-ray, but it's still not completely healed, so
I'm going to take it easy and not push myself!

Alright! My comeback means summer is starting!
Stay safe! Everyone, let's have some fun diving~!!
Please go easy on me for a while!

You're sure to be moved and healed by the crystal-clear waters that rival resort seas!
