The ocean in Okinawa was so much fun!! Gorilla Chop is perfect for Izu divers, isn't it?!
Good evening everyone! It's Mei ・:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+ My iPad was acting up again, so I couldn't prepare the photos and videos in time. I apologize for the delay! Well then, for those who want a quick look, here's a short two-day video: https://youtu.be/fTQoawp1J40?si=qUsI956hW2iW6zDD It was so much fun! We'll definitely do it again next December! Oh, no absolutes. Only if my school work schedule allows it 🥹
First up, this! The Mijun (scad) were amazing!
Mijun everywhere you looked. Even I, who usually gets bored, took tons of videos lol (I have a history of doing this with the whale sharks at Hasama)
Before the Mijun, we went to the Christmas tree for a記念 photo. I never thought I'd be able to do this in the waters of Okinawa.
On the way back, we took a different route and took a commemorative photo at the heart-shaped rock ♡ Was this one taken by me with Patty's wide-angle SLR? Well, I only had to press the shutter button, so it counts as me taking it, right? lol
Dives 2 and 3 were all about meticulous macro photography! So many subjects, it was busy! This fish, called the jawfish, came in two colors.
Probably the Starry Goby Jawfish. It was cute how it often came out to greet us.
Drifting around in the sand in the middle was a type of razorfish. The female was quite shaggy, so maybe it's a Roughsnout Ghost Pipefish? Or a Robust Ghost Pipefish with impressive flaps, or a regular Razorfish?
There was also a very colorful Short-snouted Pipefish! Such stylish colors! And the main event! Nudibranch party 🎉 There were too many photos, so I've picked out just a few of the ones you don't often see in Izu!
Jorunna funebris
Glossodoris cincta
Chromodoris willani
Costasiella sp. (lettuce sea slug)
Sacoglossan sea slug
Costasiella usagi (bunny sea slug) By the way, these lettuce sea slugs are tiny, as you can see from the size comparison lol This time we had three types of lettuce sea slugs. There were also tons of other nudibranchs like Thecacera picta (Pikachu nudibranch), Phidiana militaris, Hypselodoris maculosa, and many more. If we had searched even more thoroughly, I'm sure we would have found even more – amazing.
And just like that, it was the third dive lol It's shallow and warm, so you can just keep going. Gori Cho is absolutely fun, with both macro and wide-angle opportunities. It was perfectly suited for Izu divers ✌︎
Toku-chan peace sign ✌️ Thank you very much for guiding us so much for two days, from the training to the tour! We really appreciate it! We look forward to seeing you again next time! Thank you also to everyone who participated! It was a new type of tour, but I'm glad you all enjoyed it! We'd love to go somewhere again on a tour like this, so please send us your requests!
