Last February, we held the "Hokkaido Drift Ice Tour."
Blessed with good weather, the tour was a great success
This year, following the drift ice tour, we're off on the second winter Hokkaido tour, the "Winter Giant Creature Tour"!
Dates: February 19 (Thu) - 22 (Sun), 2026
Location: Shakotan Peninsula, Hokkaido
We're targeting the giant sea lions
(todoros) that exceed 2m in length, and the giant Pacific octopus (mizudako), the largest octopus in the world. These are some truly massive creatures!
We're going to see breathtaking sights that you absolutely cannot experience anywhere else!
Just recently, I received some exciting news that has me incredibly thrilled!
In late January, a large group of sea lions, also known as "sea gangsters," descended upon Bentenjima, an uninhabited island off the coast of Wakkanai City in northern Hokkaido, reaching a total of approximately 3,000 individuals. This is considered the largest number ever observed for this time of year. [Announced by Hokkaido Prefecture]
Wow, that's insane!
Although the location is a bit different, being Wakkanai, this definitely raises expectations!
This tour is being held for the first time in seven years. I wonder what kind of tour it will be...
