FAQs

General diving

  • Depths of up to 12m are possible for discovery diving. After obtaining your Open Water certification, you can dive to a maximum of 18m. As you progress, you will be able to dive to a maximum of 40m.
  • Healthy individuals aged 10 and over are welcome to dive.
  • When diving, unlike swimming where you propel yourself with your own body, you use diving equipment to breathe underwater and fins to move through the water. So, even if you're not a strong swimmer, you can gracefully move through the water while diving, so please don't worry. You can dive even if you can't swim, as long as you use diving equipment. If you have a strong fear of water, please consult us.
  • If you have a pre-existing medical condition that you believe would be dangerous during diving, such as heart disease, respiratory illnesses like asthma, ear/nose/throat conditions, or neurological or mental disorders, you may not be able to participate.
If you have a pre-existing medical condition, please consult a specialist doctor before starting. We can also introduce you to specialist doctors familiar with diving, so please contact us for more information.
  • Diving during your period is generally not an issue, but diving while on medication is usually not possible. Therefore, if you experience severe menstrual pain or feel anxious, we recommend diving when you are not on your period.
Diving is possible as long as you do not overexert yourself.
Additionally, it is best to avoid diving when you are feeling unwell or have a cold.
  • Rain is not a problem!
When viewed from underwater, the falling rain is also a magical sight.
The fish are swimming around energetically too.
However, if the wind is very strong and the sea conditions are poor, we will head to a different spot.
If we determine that conditions are dangerous, such as during a typhoon, we will contact you.
  • In winter, you wear a "dry suit" over your clothes.
Actually, in Izu, the wetsuit season for diving is July to September; outside of those months, you wear a dry suit.
  • There's no obligation to own your own equipment, but whether you rent or buy, you can't dive without it.
Rented equipment can sometimes be ill-fitting and cause stress underwater.
Diving with equipment that fits you well will make it even more enjoyable.
We help those who want their own equipment to get set up.
  • It is very rare to encounter an aggressive shark that attacks people while diving.
Even if you do, sharks are usually scared of divers and swim away, so you'll be fine.
  • Of course, coming alone is perfectly fine!
At our shop, half of our customers start out by themselves.
Even if you start alone, you'll quickly make diving friends through our courses and tours, so please don't worry.
While our tours usually require two participants to run, if you're coming alone, please feel free to contact us with your preferred dates and we'll look for other participants to join you!

Regarding C card acquisition

  • This refers to organizations that develop the knowledge and skills necessary for diving, and establish diving rules.
While there are various certification agencies, the general content of their courses is consistent.
S2CLUB Tokyo issues PADI C-cards, which are the most recognized worldwide.
  • A C-card stands for "Certification Card," which is a certificate of accreditation.
These certificates are issued by various private training organizations and are cards that prove you have acquired the knowledge and skills to dive safely.
Unlike a license or permit, there is no expiration date, and you can dive in oceans worldwide.
  • This is the very first PADI rank.
Unlike an introductory dive, you will study knowledge and acquire skills.
After obtaining this certification, you will be able to dive to a depth of 18m.
You can also dive regularly and make diving your hobby!
  • Since you will be taking the course after completing "self-study" at your own pace before the academic lecture, you will acquire solid knowledge.
Any questions you may have will be explained during the academic lecture
and an academic test will be conducted after your understanding has deepened.
  • We recommend taking the ocean practical training as soon as possible after the classroom lectures, as it builds upon the knowledge you learned there.
It's best to take it within one month at the latest.

Regarding fun diving

  • Basically, we go diving in the Izu Peninsula.
The Izu Peninsula is accessible for day trips, and tours are held daily for groups of two or more people!
  • The best season to visit Izu is surprisingly "autumn to winter"!
The water temperature is warmest in September.
Colorful tropical fish are swimming actively, and you can dive in a wetsuit.
The underwater visibility increases in winter as the water temperature drops. It becomes very clear.
Since the local congestion and traffic jams that occur in summer are also reduced,
you can enjoy diving at a relaxed pace.
  • Basically, one-day tours depart at 7:00 AM from next to the Hachiko-mae Police Box at Shibuya Station.
Tours departing the night before depart at 9:00 PM from the S2CLUB store.
*Meeting locations and times may change depending on the destination.
  • If you're concerned about a long break, you can join a "Beginner Tour" where you can slowly review your skills before diving.
If this is your first time joining our tours, we also offer "S2CLUB tours" as trial tours.
  • We offer rental equipment, from light gear to dry suits.
