Hi everyone! This is TAISHIRO☺︎ from S2CLUB Ishigaki Island!
As those of you who follow us on Instagram probably know, today is the 4th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar (Yukka nu Hii).
It's the day of Okinawa's traditional Hārī festival (Haarii)!
As an annual event at the port we use, all of our staff once again diligently carried and rowed the boat this year 🔥
The Hārī at Funakoshi Fishing Port in Ishigaki Island always begins with prayers to the sea gods.
Beyond this torii gate is a hut where we pray for safe voyages and bountiful catches this year.
We also (???) offered our prayers!
And after this, the Hārī begins!
First, as is unique to this region, we carry the boat to the port, which is truly heavy...
While an aura of nobility emanates from SHO-san...
Even SHO-san, who regularly works out,
ends up with this expression, LOL.
Above all, my expression is the most desperate, LOL.
As I'm writing this blog, I have about 10 Salonpas patches on my shoulder! 💦
And once we huff and puff and carry this boat, the race finally begins 🏁
(SHO-san is working hard! 🔥)
We paddle desperately like this, feeling like our arms are about to fall off!
This too, while praying for a safe voyage...
Of course, all the staff paddled hard and prayed for a safe year at sea!
We want to have another accident-free year at sea! ✨
We were closed today for the Hārī, but we'll be back in the ocean tomorrow!
And according to Okinawan lore, the rainy season ends with the Hārī!
And it's true, the weather is super clear ☀️
The real summer has officially started today!
