I'm so excited about finding new creatures in the new area!
Good evening everyone! It's Mei・:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+ The other day, I went on my last dive tour of the season for us summer girls!
The spot was Fukuura, where an area that was previously off-limits to diving recently became accessible, and guide ropes were added! I wanted to go but hadn't found the right timing, and since the water looked good, we went!
There were various creatures, like this Shortfin snake eel that wasn't moving at all, so close even without zooming.
I heard that there were many Bannerfish around the basket, which is a landmark in the area! But when I went to check, it seems they've recently become quite free-spirited, so
they were scattered all over the place, about 5m apart, in an area 10-12m deep. They were slightly whitish, and since it was a sandy area with only the landmark basket, I was a bit afraid of losing them (or rather, getting lost myself), so I couldn't gather them... Then, on the second dive, another instructor had successfully gathered them all, and it was lovely! My guests and I thought it was cool!
Inside the basket, there were many Black-margined cardinalfish, all mouth-brooding!
If you look closely, it's fun to see the different stages of egg maturity! And then, a first sighting!
Can you tell from this photo? Lol. It's roughly in the center.
This is what I photographed! The Sharp-snouted snake eel. It was given its Japanese name in 2014, so it's relatively new? But it seems to have been observed quite a bit and was called "Sharp-snouted snake eel" in English. Maybe because the name is different, even when I search, it only shows up around Osezaki in Izu, so is it somewhat rare? Or do they just hide when divers approach?
And other creatures get in the way when you're watching, lol. This Spotted sandperch kept staring so persistently. It was cute though. So, we all had fun on our last tour of the season!
Thank you for diving so much this year! Let's enjoy the resorts during winter and see each other again in June~🥰 Oh, I couldn't find a Giant crab on the sandy bottom, so I'll try again next time...! See you then!
