Something incredible has appeared at "Osezaki," Izu's diver's sanctuary!!
Hello everyone✋️
Yesterday, I went to Osezaki, the divers' sanctuary in Izu.
Originally, we had planned to see the Christmas tree in IOP, but due to unfavorable wind conditions, we prioritized safety and headed to Ose in West Izu 🚗.

This year's underwater tree is shallower than before, and it's right by the entrance, so it's easy for anyone to go see it ♫.
Since power lines are connected to the underwater tree, it seems to be fully lit up during night dives 🔦.
On this day, there were a lot of jellyfish, and we were able to observe baby fish that seem to cohabitate with them 🔎.
(The photos from here on are courtesy of Patty.)
Most of them were young horse mackerel 🐟️🐟️🐟️🐟️.

Is this a trevally?

It was cute to see them scatter and hide behind the jellyfish when divers approached ❤️.
Near the surface, we found a rare fish, the man-of-war fish!!!!
As juveniles, they live near the surface in jellyfish, and as they grow, they move to deeper waters.
Since adults live in the deep sea, they are said to be quite rare ![]()

Besides these, there was also a leptocephalus, either an eel or a moray eel, but...
Unfortunately, I couldn't get a photo (´;ω;`).
In the sandy area, we saw a razorfish.

It seems like there's been a good harvest this year, and if you look, there are still more to be found.
Next up after the swaying sandy inhabitants was the Takakura seahorse.

And a pinecone fish, about the size of a 5-yen coin, also appeared.

After seeing such small creatures, we saw a giant frogfish that was visible from a distance.

After the first dive, while we were having lunch, Osezaki suddenly became abuzz with excitement ![]()
A humpback whale appeared in the bay ![]()
After swimming for a while, it returned to the open sea from the tip of the peninsula 🐋.
Another shop that was diving at the tip said they saw it directly below them and got a full view ![]()
A whale sighting at Ose is an extremely lucky event that happens only once every few years ![]()
What incredibly fortunate guests they were.
I'm so jealous!!!!
You're sure to be moved and soothed by the crystal-clear waters, rivalling those of resort oceans!
