I went to the beach I'd been wanting to visit forever! I went diving in Sakata, Chiba!
Hi everyone! Mei here ('◇')ゞ Today I'll tell you about the ocean trip I took with my friends the other day! Kensuke-san, whom I met at the Hentai Club, is a guide at "Sea Crop," a local shop in Sakata, Chiba! It was a spot I'd always wanted to visit, so I went with Mizuki-chan from the club's urban team!
Since it was my first time, I got a quick tour of the main areas and enjoyed the marine life, a packed itinerary. The main part was two boat dives. The first was at a spot called "New Fishing Reef." We went to the sea pen field, but it wasn't really "blooming" this time. I wondered if it was the current, but apparently not, just luck, haha. On the upside, it was easier to find small creatures, and we observed several tiny fringefin gobies! They were still so small and cute!
A completely transparent juvenile lionfish. It was the most transparent one I've ever seen. I really need a strobe for times like these...
Since there are several reefs, if you peek into them, you'll find things like this. A smooth-shelled crab. It's poisonous if eaten, so you can't eat it.
And at the second spot, "Matsune," we saw a humpback whale bone!! It's been a long time since it was submerged, so the fact that it's decaying makes it even better.
Moray eels were moving in and out of the holes in the bones, and it was a wonderful sight to think about how marine life creates its environment like this. There are tons of moray eels in Sakata, but I only took videos with my GoPro, so I don't have any photos, lol. Next time, I'll try to get some good shots!
There were also several types of sandperch, and this one is a juvenile Korean sandperch. Its eyes are big and round and cute ♡ I couldn't get a shot, but we also saw a spotted sandperch!
And then, to the beach for sunset! I had many goals, and the first one was this! A creature called a "threadfin dragonet," which is incredibly cute!! However, it's completely camouflaged on the sand...
It has many whiskers like this, giving it a very photogenic appearance. But it's an SSS-level difficulty for photography on sand with its camouflage. I definitely want to try again.
The second goal was to see the spawning of the blackspot tuskfish. We were waiting for the male to appeal to the female and for them to spawn when! A large school of sardines and a large school of amberjacks appeared! Both were interesting scenes, and the result of frantically trying to capture them was this indescribable photo.
And this, lol ( ´艸`) My GoPro was recording and pointed, but my face was focused on the blackspot tuskfish, so the angle was off💦 I got too greedy. Photographing the blackspot tuskfish spawning with my current skill and TG camera is absolutely impossible, so I just burned it into my memory and moved on to the next goal.
My favorite Callionymidae family member, the Hime-Teguri (Orange-barred Dragonet)♪ Apparently, they've been seen for a while, so we went looking for them at sunset, hoping to catch them spawning. I wanted to capture the moment they open their cool dorsal fins during courtship! This was the best I could do this time... I want to take clearer photos, so I'll get an arm and a strobe before I go diving for fun next time. All in all, it was a fun day of diving from morning to evening, with a total of 3 dives and 3 and a half hours of diving. They even made us lunch and dinner😢 Thank you, Saya-san!
I'm currently finalizing the tour details, but I'm thinking of holding a tour around autumn, so I hope many of you will join us! *By the way, since there's a current, I'll only take people who can manage themselves! Nishikawana also has a current, so Sakata should be the same! To dive at various spots, the only way is to improve your skills! Let's dive, gain experience, and have lots of fun~!!
You'll definitely be moved and healed by the transparent underwater world, comparable to resort seas!
