I took some time off and went to Oshima to have some fun (and do a little studying)!
Hello everyone! I'm Mei ・:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+
The Marine Diving Fair is being held from today at Ikebukuro Sunshine City!
We're not exhibiting this year, but I went with some friends~
Anyway, I took a day off recently and went diving in Izu Oshima!
I usually guide myself in Oshima, but I don't get detailed information from local guides,
so I've been feeling like I'm not conveying how incredibly interesting the ocean is there. I hope to make the most of it!
Here are some photos:

This time, I was introduced to many Japanese pygmy seahorses (Hachi-jo Tatsus)! Some were even pregnant, though I couldn't tell the difference between males and females😅

I took so many photos that I was able to get some that are barely presentable😭

My personal favorite was the Peacock Featherworm ✨
I knew they existed, but I didn't know where they grew, so I was always waiting to encounter one.
I was so happy to see it at Ohama Beach this time.

There were more of them clumped together here than in other places, and a nice Slender Blenny was there. It didn't move at all, so I called M-san, and by the time I moved to that spot... it had moved away🥲 I really wanted to get a sharp shot with my DSLR (I want a camera and a strobe~! How do people save money?! lol)

A type of cuttlefish that hasn't been seen much recently in the Izu Peninsula (I think they said it doesn't have a Japanese name yet). I feel like there used to be a lot of cuttlefish when I first became an instructor~

We also observed a rare blotch-eye hawkfish in a slightly shallower area 👀 This is the best I can do with my skills using a TG camera with only a light, no strobe. If it were an environment where it was okay to pull back, I might be able to push it a bit further...

While everyone was looking for JPs (Japanese pygmy seahorses/Hachi-jo Tatsus), I found a crab on the wall by myself. When I looked it up after returning, it was probably a Boladaile's Horned Crab? The pattern on its back and the shape of its horns look like it. It's nocturnal and rarely seen during the day, so I was lucky!

And this super cute fellow. A Giant Frogfish that was swimming endlessly. I've seen them swim a bit, but this one moved a long distance, and coincidentally, its route was similar to ours🤣 It made me think, "So this is why frogfish sometimes disappear overnight!" lol

We had great weather for two days and a very enjoyable dive! Although our number of dives and experience levels are completely different, I'll do my best to apply what I learned to future tours! There are many other places I want to dive, so I'll visit them one by one!
See you!
Tomorrow is a drinking party~!!
